Heating for Home and Residential
A SMART ALTERNATIVE TO AN AIR CONDITIONER.
Heating, cooling and dehumidifying – heat pumps have it all. Except, perhaps, a name that does their versatility justice. Heat pumps look and function the same as air conditioners for cooling, but in cool months when heat is called for, they reverse operation to provide warmth for your home. If you live in a colder environment, electric-powered heat pumps are great in combination with your oil- or gas-fueled furnace as a Hybrid Heat® solution, which can result in significant savings on your overall heating costs.
According to Carrier, the leader in home heating and cooling equipment, “Heating and air conditioning systems are the biggest users of energy in the home, up to 75% of the utility bill. A new high efficiency furnace can save up to 50% in operating costs compared to a ten-year-old furnace. Many 1990 and earlier model furnaces have efficiencies of 65% or less. The minimum efficiency furnace that can be sold in the United States today is 78%, and furnaces are available that are up to 96.6% efficient.”
Today, there are many heating options and just about as many rebate or incentive options to help you obtain the system of your dreams. The heating systems (and controllers/thermostats) of today are nowhere near the same systems of 10 or 20 years ago. Today the furnaces are designed to accommodate the air-tight, efficient homes that are being built today. Thermostats are now “controllers” and do far more than just keep a home or business at a set temperature.
All the components of a Carrier Infinity system actually communicate with each other, and know when the system is malfunctioning or require service. They are smart devices. If your project goals deal with comfort, efficiency, utility cost saving or system initial costs, Milwaukie Heating & Cooling can design a system to meet your goals and budget.
Here are some questions to consider when planning your new heating system (retrofit or new construction):
- What type of fuel do you want to use? Gas, oil, electric, dual-fuel source, solar?
- Do you want to consider a heating system that can heat your house as well as your domestic hot water?
- Even though you just have a heating system now, do you want to consider a cost-saving, efficient heat pump system that will provide heating and cooling to your home or business?
- If you are experiencing hot or cold spots in different areas of your home or business, do you want to consider zoning systems that will help balance out those issues for you?
- At the time of replacing an existing furnace, it is also the time that you should have your existing ductwork examined, repaired, cleaned, sealed or replaced. What do you know about your existing ductwork? This is critical to the overall efficiency and performance of your new heating system.
Right now, you may not be able to answer all of these questions. You may not be aware of what systems are available and what all your options are. Your answers to these questions (and many others) will enable us to design the right system for your specific situation. You will want to know what rebates and incentives may be available to you to defray the cost of putting in your desired systems.
Milwaukie Heating & Cooling has several equipment manufacturers’ products available to build the right system to meet your needs and goals. The professional Sales Consultants at Milwaukie Heating & Cooling are equipped to help you answer these and many other questions.
